Formal education often happens early in our lives and is focused on acquiring knowledge and skills. Perspectiva is building a different kind of organisation around the concept of Bildung: the idea that education is also the lifelong formation of who we are and how we understand the world. It works with writers and thinkers on books, essays and gatherings about questions such as how technology is changing our attention, where people find meaning and what ecological change asks of us. Through Perspectiva Press, ideas that might otherwise remain within universities or specialist circles are developed into books for a wider audience. Emergence provides core funding for Perspectiva to build this approach to lifelong learning.
